SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR) today announced the completion of a Master Purchase Agreement with Verizon, one of the world's leading providers of communications services. Under this multi-year contract, Juniper E-series routers will be deployed to support a variety of next-generation edge services.

The first phase of the new deployment will support Verizon's 'Enterprise Advance' initiative aimed at Fortune 1000 corporations, government, finance, education and healthcare entities. Verizon selected Juniper Networks E-series for its innovative features, reliable performance and ability to consolidate a wide range of IP-based services in a single platform over a variety of media including leased line, Frame Relay, ATM, DSL, Ethernet and wireless. This versatility provides for rapid introduction of new services and lowers both capital and operational costs.

The E-series is an integrated platform that combines IP services capabilities with provider-class edge routing. Its flexible architecture will enable Verizon to deliver a host of value-added services such as secure Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) using multi-protocol label switching (MPLS), DSL aggregation, commercial wireless hot spots (WiFi) and Transparent LAN Service (TLS), all with enhanced Quality of Service (QoS). Unique to the E-series is its ability to dynamically define and activate policy-based IP services for each subscriber through the optional SDX-300 Service Deployment System.
