STOCKHOLM -- Hotsip AB, a global leader inmultimedia applications for SIP infrastructure, announced today that Hotsip's server and clientproducts are deployed and commercially launched by TeliaSonera as a residential IP-based telephonyservice. Subscribers to the service can make free phone calls to each other, while calls outside theservice will be charged like an ordinary phone call. In addition to telephony, the end-user can benefitfrom services like video-call, presence information in a buddy-list, forking incoming calls to manydevices (e.g. PCs, fixed and/or mobile phones) and the possibility to send instant messages.

With Hotsip’s broadband solution (including Hotsip® SIP Application Server, Hotsip® Presence Engineand Hotsip® Active Contacts PC) the subscribers get a standard telephone number which they canuse to make and receive calls to and from any fixed or mobile phone using the software client. Theusers have the choice to either use a headset and the soft phone on the PC or an analogue telephoneusing analogue telephone adapters. The subscribers will not only benefit from complementarytelephony but also be able to use new features that connect the broadband world with fixed andmobile telephony.

“There is a definite demand for broadband multimedia applications, and this positive development hasjust started to take off. Shortly we will see many more multimedia communication deployments withinthe broadband market worldwide" says Kenneth Gustafsson, CEO of Hotsip. TeliaSonera in Finlandwas one of our first commercial customers and our platform in Finland has been proven to be bothstable and flexible in production. We therefore feel very reassured and excited about having passedthis proof of concept period while in the process of selling to Broadband Service Providers in Europeand Asia. I think several broadband ISPs in Europe will now look at the TeliaSonera service and seeits business potential. The service could rapidly be deployed in any broadband ISP network."
