Tekelec names Scott Weidenfeller senior vice president of global marketing

CALABASAS, Calif. -- Tekelec (NASDAQ: TKLC - News), a leading developer of telecommunications products for next-generation fixed, mobile and packet networks, today announced 24-year industry veteran Scott Weidenfeller has been promoted to senior vice president of global marketing.

"With his vast industry and management experience, Scott is the ideal leader to help continue Tekelec's momentum in expanding the company's global presence and position in the evolving telecom market," said Fred Lax, Tekelec president and CEO. "He has a proven track record leading sales, marketing and business development efforts, and he has played a key role in developing our strategy for growth and corporate development. Scott's solid technical background in switching and infrastructure solutions coupled with his keen vision of the global market will contribute to achieving our near- and long-term objectives. In his new role, Weidenfeller will lead Tekelec's global marketing organization, including strategic marketing, marketing communications, channel and partner management, global market development and global sales operations.
