TCS Adds LBS Capability 627741

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. (TCS) (NASDAQ: TSYS), a leading provider of mission-critical wireless communications, today announced the addition of Location-Based Services (LBS) as an enhancement to the company's 20/20 Mobility(TM) logistics solution. The availability of 20/20 Mobility with Location Advantage(TM) represents TCS' ongoing commitment to support the asset management and distribution efficiency requirements of the company's enterprise customers.

The TCS' 20/20 Mobility system features proprietary LBS software that enables asset tracking and delivery support. Via TCS' precise Xypoint(R) Location Platform, 20/20 Mobility enterprise customers can track drivers and loads throughout the day. The LBS feature supports a wide array of specialized services including in-field navigation, Global Positioning System (GPS) tracking, traffic alerts and geo-fencing.

With 20/20 Mobility Location Advantage, delivery drivers can access sophisticated, in-field navigation with interactive street-level maps to obtain directions for unfamiliar routes, to find alternative routes due to traffic congestion and accidents, and to drive around detours.

From a dispatch center, managers can view "digital breadcrumb tracks" on their monitors that display where vehicles have traveled versus their planned routes. This tracking enables managers to evaluate real-time and historical fleet performance. The system's interactive maps -- with zoom capability to street level -- allow dispatchers to find the closest driver for additional pickups and deliveries. Dispatchers can also provide alerts and directions to drivers for optimum routing, facilitate emergency assistance for drivers and coordinate estimated time of arrival for deliveries.
