HERZLIA, Israel -- Schema, a leading global provider of network optimization software solutions, announced today that it signed a multi-million dollar agreement providing transport network optimization to a major North American wireless service provider. According to the agreement, Schema will provide the operator with an enterprise license which will enable the carrier to optimize their entire transport network across the United States, resulting in significant OpEx reductions.

In search of new directions for cost control, wireless operators are taking a fresh look at the relatively untouched territory of their backhaul transport network. In support of this type of analysis, Schema’s Transport Network Optimization (TNO) Suite is designed to meet the needs of cost-conscious carriers facing sharply higher transport network costs. These rising costs are due in part to the recent explosive growth in demand for high speed data services (i.e. EVDO and HSDPA) which substantially increase backhaul traffic.

Schema's expertise in optimizing transport networks enables wireless operators to cut operational expenses for the Backhaul by 15% – 20%, saving tens of millions of dollars. Schema’s unique experience in the world of wireless networks has given its TNO Suite the edge in responding to the specific needs of wireless carriers, optimizing the fixed portion of their traffic.

The carrier selected Schema on the merits of TNO’s ability to generate operationally realistic optimization plans that demonstrate a remarkable increase in capacity as well as a significant reduction in operational costs.

"Schema is excited to work with this tier 1 North American carrier" said Avshalom Ben-Zoor, Schema's VP Marketing. "Schema's unique perspective on wireless network optimization has positioned us to help this carrier save millions of dollars by providing a powerful tool specifically designed to meet the requirements of wireless carriers. TNO will enable them to increase capacity in support of new services without incurring additional leased line OpEx, returning their investment many times over."
