SYDNEY -- Clarity International Pty Ltd, Asia Pacific's leading supplier of telecommunications Operational Support Systems (OSS), has announced a new contract with the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT). Tier-1, PLDT has selected Clarity as the strategic OSS platform for transformation of its Fixed Line Network to a Next Generation Network (NGN).

PLDT is actively pursuing convergence across its three principal business groups, fixed line, wireless and ePLDT. "The next two years will be a 're-investment and re-invention' phase for PLDT, as we implement NGN to simplify our network architecture, develop new revenue streams and support closer coordination between our fixed and wireless businesses," said PLDT President and CEO Napoleon L.Nazareno.

"The deployment of NGN raises complex technology, operational and customer service issues," says Angela Dickenson, SVP Strategy, Clarity. "It requires seamless integration of new IP technology with existing network technology. It means migrating customers from traditional to next generation products. It fundamentally changes the way service is delivered to customers -- enabling customers to control their service and the speed and quality at which it performs."

"Clarity will enable PLDT to leverage NGN to increase network coverage and provide innovative new services all whilst supporting and improving PLDT's existing PSTN service," says Noel Gatchalian, Information Systems Head, PLDT. "Clarity will manage both our current and next generation network. It will help us leverage the best technology to provide traditional and innovative new services to our customers. It will streamline and automate our provisioning and assurance processes -- reducing costs, increasing efficiency and improving levels of service. Clarity offers an unparalleled opportunity to change the way we interact with and support our customers. Using Clarity to manage our NGN will enable us to radically improve our customer experience."
