DALLAS -- Permeo Technologies Inc., a leading provider of next-generation remote access software solutions with customers including over 30 percent of the Global 100, announces the immediate availability of the Permeo Application Security Gateway (ASG) 5.1, the company’s flagship SSL VPN product.

Building on the browser-based access offered by a first-generation SSL VPN, Permeo’s solution provides features only found in a next-generation SSL VPN—clientless access to any application, ease of deployment, and cost-effective implementation throughout an enterprise. Based on application-independent SOCKS technology, the Permeo ASG is a remote access solution that typically sits in the DMZ and provides remote access to any end user without exposing underlying network security. The ASG 5.1 utilizes patented Permeo technology to enable secure firewall traversal of any native TCP or UDP application, from legacy applications to dynamic applications, such as voice and video. Additionally, Permeo is the only application-layer access solution that enables gateways to be chained throughout the enterprise—carrying security from the end point to the application server without impacting existing network infrastructure.

“The release of the Permeo Application Security Gateway 5.1 is the just latest installment in our drive to deliver large enterprises the best next-generation SSL VPN solution,” said Andrew Morbitzer, vice president of marketing, Permeo Technologies. “Our customers choose us because our solutions enable enterprise-wide deployment of remote access that supports applications independent of the network. Our SSL VPN solution is intuitive for the end user to operate, and at the same time is easy for IT to deploy and manage.”

Highlights of the new features in the Permeo ASG 5.1 include full support for PKI-based authentication, managed server provider-class (MSP) management, and updated Session Initiated Protocol (SIP) traversal, which allows remote access to dynamic applications:

PKI Enhanced Support—Both Certificate Revocation Lists (CRL) and Online Certificate Status Protocol (OCSP) are supported, which provides automated revocation of outdated or invalid certificates. Permeo’s thorough PKI support is designed for enterprises working with business partners who need to provide targeted, secure access to applications without exposing the network.

MSP Management—Offers partitioned management based on authenticated user identity. This feature lets large enterprises or managed service providers delegate policy authority to specific subscriber managers, which allows natural, distributed management of end user application access to those who control the applications.

SIP Traversal—Allows companies to deploy modern collaborative applications across a WAN without modifying the firewall or other parts of the network infrastructure. Enterprises are establishing the business case for extending dynamic applications including instant messaging, video conferencing, and voice chat. The Permeo ASG now enables secure access to these collaborative applications from remote locations.

Permeo ASG 5.1 is immediately available for purchase or upgrade and pricing starts at $7,995 for 25 concurrent users.
