PALO ALTO, Calif. -- Packet Design, Inc., leader in the field of route analytics technology for managing large IP networks, has named Michel J. Maeso executive vice president of worldwide sales. Maeso, former vice president of sales at Speedera Networks, Inc., reports to Packet Design CEO Doug Brent.

Joe Huber, who has been Packet Design's vice president of sales since the company's founding, assumes the newly created post of vice president of business development. He reports to Jeff Raice, executive vice president of marketing and business development.

Maeso brings more than 17 years of sales and technology management experience to his new role at Packet Design. During his two-year tenure at Speedera, a provider of global outsourced web infrastructure solutions, the company grew from $13 million to a $50 million run rate, and was cited twice by PriceWaterhouseCoopers as one of Silicon Valley's 10 fastest-growing private companies before being acquired by Akamai Technologies for $170 million. Maeso previously had been senior vice president of sales at collaborative software provider ActionBase Corp., and before that was vice president of visual networks at Intellisys Group, where he oversaw triple-digit revenue growth. He has also held sales and sales management positions with PictureTel, NEC and AT&T. Maeso, 43, is a resident of Foster City, Calif.

Before joining Packet Design in 2001, Huber was manager of enterprise video partnerships at Cisco Systems. In his more than 20 years of direct and channel technology sales experience, he has held executive sales positions with Precept Software, Network Computing Devices, 3Com and Bridge Communications. Huber, 53, lives in Fremont, Calif.
