LONDON -- BT, the UK's leading telecoms operator, has moved the hosting of its broadband customer self-help software to the Austin, Texas headquarters of Motive, Inc. (NASDAQ:MOTV - News). BT selected the company to host its Motive-based management solution, which is used to support BT's residential and small business offerings, to relieve the burden of managing infrastructure changes and upgrades.

With Motive hosting the software, BT's service is fully supported 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Not only does this ensure high availability levels, but it also removes the headaches associated with continual capacity planning and upgrading to the latest versions of software or operating systems and frees BT to focus on its core business initiatives.

"Broadband is becoming an essential home service, and without Motive's technology to diagnose and repair problems, we would fail to give customers the service they expect," said Colin Pavey, programme manager BT Retail. "With Motive's hosting capabilities, we are confident the application is going to be constantly available to our customers and service agents and will be supported 24 hours a day."
