LINMOR releases reporting module to identify security issues with the Simple Network Management Protocol

OTTAWA, Ont. -- LINMOR Technologies Inc. [TSE:LIR], theleading developer of real-time performance management systems for nextgeneration data networks, announced today the release of the SecurityReporting Module for NEBULA® Performance Monitor (PM), the renownperformance monitoring and reporting software aimed at the data networks runby telecommunications service providers, large companies and governmentorganizations.In response to various vulnerabilities identified by CERT® AdvisoryCA-2002-03, titled "Multiple Vulnerabilities in Many Implementations of theSimple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)", released February 12, 2002,LINMOR has developed a new Security Reporting Module to identify and reporton specific cases of suspicious activity and potential intrusions tonetworks via the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)."A critical issue has been brought to the attention of the industry thatidentifies security vulnerabilities in software that is present on themajority of networking equipment and many computing platforms," said JamesCragg, President and CEO of LINMOR. "LINMOR has responded quickly to thisissue with the release of a new Security Reporting Module for the NEBULAsolution set. With this tool, network managers can quickly and easilyidentify the vulnerabilities in their networks, isolate and resolve themwithout interrupting the critical network management functions the SNMPprotocol was designed to address."LINMOR customers and new prospects of NEBULA Performance Monitor are beingadvised that NEBULA PM itself, is not vulnerable to the weaknessesidentified in the CERT advisory.
