Frank Farese, former chairman and CEO of Sandial Systems, named head of Lucent Technologies' Global Business Partners Group

MURRAY HILL, N.J. -- Lucent Technologies (NYSE: LU - News) today announced that Frank Farese, 46, will join the company as head of its Global Business Partners Group. Lucent's Global Business Partners Group works with resellers, distributors and systems integrators to sell Lucent's products and services to enterprises, small service providers and government entities. Farese most recently served as chairman and CEO of Sandial Systems, which sells storage area backbone switches to enterprise data centers and service providers. Before joining Sandial, Farese worked at EMC Corporation for five years as vice president of its Global Alliances program and managed the relationships with major resellers, software and application developers and original equipment manufacturers. Farese initiated the ECO Structure Alliance between EMC and other companies to jointly develop integrated e-business infrastructure solutions for Fortune 500 companies. Prior to that he worked at AT&T in a variety of positions, including wireless, data networking and the Computer Systems business. "In the year since Lucent established its Business Partners group, we have seen it grow and prosper in a very difficult market, and Lucent intends to build on that momentum to significantly expand its strategic alliance and channel presence worldwide," said Bob Holder, chief operating officer for Lucent.
