Scuttlebutt on TeraConnect. It's making an
integrated array of laser/detector/parallel
optical fibers. I saw a prototype of a
bidirectional 8-channel version. It will be
quickly scaling to 16, 32, and 64 channels. I don't know
the exact range, but I believe it is mostly suitable
for LAN- or perhaps WAN-type networking. The
main customer is Cisco.
There was a dispute in the selection of a backer. Sanders took bids from a number of backers, culled it down to a few, and then made its final selection. One of the backers that got dropped hired ten of the top technical people on the project away from Sanders to form their own company.
