SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq:JNPR - News) today announced that Zen Internet, a UK-based Internet service provider, has selected Juniper Networks M- and T-series routers to increase its bandwidth capacity in line with escalating demands from customers for its ADSL products and services.

In addition to multiple T320 routing platforms, Zen Internet has deployed Juniper Networks M10 routers in Rochdale and in London, enabling it to maximise bandwidth allocation at the edge as well as the core of its network. As a result, Zen Internet will be looking to create and deploy new revenue generating services for its small- and medium-sized business customers. It will also be able to offer a more flexible range of access speeds by introducing allocated dedicated capacity to customers.

"There were two key factors in our decision to work with Juniper Networks at both the core and edge of our network," said Ian Buckley, marketing manager at Zen Internet. "First, the Juniper Networks platforms are extremely reliable, therefore ensuring quality of service for our customers. Secondly, the port density of the M10 and the scalability of the T320 routing platforms mean we can keep capital investment to a minimum while ensuring maximum return. The phenomenal growth in bandwidth, driven by the demand for our ADSL products had meant we were close to exceeding the routing capacity of our existing core network. We are confident that with the scalable routing solutions from Juniper Networks we have a solid solution to address this problem."

Zen Internet selected the Juniper Networks T320 as its core routing platform because of its high performance in a small form factor. The T320 also offers the capacity to support low-speed OC-3/STM-1 interfaces up to 10Gbps configurations and the ability to handle STM16, STM64 and 10-Gigabit Ethernet ports routing IP traffic at wire speed.

"The T320 router's size and optimised power consumption make it particularly suitable for smaller sites such as Zen Internet, where space constraints are an issue. Additionally, to support its product portfolio, Zen Internet needs to mix and match lower speed ATM interfaces with high-density 2.5 and 10Gbps ports. With Juniper Networks advanced MPLS capabilities, Zen Internet now also has the ability to extend its product offering beyond undifferentiated data services to higher revenue generating VPN services, while reducing operating costs," said Richard Brandon, marketing director, Juniper Networks EMEA.

Zen Internet provides a diverse range of high quality services to the business user, from the latest in high speed DSL Broadband Internet access to database-driven Web site design and e-commerce solutions. Additional services include ISDN networks connection, permanent leased line connectivity and intranet systems.

Imtech Telecom, the local Juniper Networks partner, was responsible for supply and installation of the routing platforms. Imtech Telecom will also be responsible for support and maintenance.
