BOZEMAN, Mont. -- ILX Lightwave announces the introduction of the newest addition to its family of life-test and burn-in systems for laser diodes and LEDs. The LRS-9424 Laser Reliability System is designed to significantly lower the cost of test of TO-can and TOSA packaged lasers and LEDs. The system offers twice the density of other commercially available systems and correspondingly lower cost. The system delivers high reliability and high performance by utilizing commercially proven oven designs with ILX¡¦s widely used laser diode control technology.

For life-test applications the LRS-9424 can be configured for up to 1,024 TO-can devices and with multiple test temperatures in a single chamber. Individual fixture heaters and temperature controls provide the user with „b1„aC accuracy and „b0.5„aC stability throughout the test cycle. Outstanding overall thermal performance at the device under test is assured by ILX¡¦s unique fixture which is designed for very low thermal impedance while still being easy to load and unload.

The LRS-9424 supports all device pinout configurations with ACC, APC, and in situ LIV test modes. Modular electronics are available with drive current ranges up to 500 mA. The system supports test temperatures from 25„aC to 150„aC. Device fixtures can accommodate 32, 64, or 128 devices.

¡§The new LRS-9424 system resulted from customer requests to significantly reduce the cost of testing TO-can lasers and LEDs,¡¨ said Larry Johnson, ILX Lightwave¡¦s President and CEO. ¡§ILX has always been known for expertise in laser diode control backed up by outstanding customer service. With the 9424 we are excited to extend that legacy to laser reliability test systems.¡¨
