AUSTIN, Texas -- General Bandwidth, a leading Voice over IP (VoIP) equipment manufacturer enabling rapid deployment and new service revenue generation over broadband networks, announces that it has achieved high rankings in port shipments among all worldwide media gateway manufacturers in a recent Infonetics survey.

Infonetics Research, an industry-leading international market research and consulting firm specializing in data networking and telecom, announced its findings in its recently released 2Q05 Service Provider Next Gen Voice Equipment report. In this report, General Bandwidth has quickly vaulted above other manufacturers' product shipments to achieve a top ranking, second only to Cisco® in port shipments and revenue worldwide for Mid-Low Density Trunking Media Gateways.

The company also recently announced an expanding strategic relationship with Siemens for providing next generation switching solutions for service providers migrating their Class 5 networks. This is in addition to the company's current role as the provider of voice gateway solutions integral to Alcatel's fiber-based access deployments.

General Bandwidth's award-winning G6® Universal Media Gateway is an open standards, circuit-to-packet platform that is deployed in a service provider's switching office, headend or Point of Presence. It enables voice communications between packet-based networks and circuit-based networks. Proven interoperable with and simultaneously supporting the leading Class 5 switches, softswitches, SIP feature servers, digital loop carriers (DLCs), and customer premises equipment (CPE), the G6 platform uniquely enables service providers to accelerate VoIP services and network migration by leveraging their existing and next generation network assets. The G6 is a true, carrier class solution that provides full redundancy and a fully integrated emergency stand alone capability.

"Market leadership is a result of providing real value to service providers," said Charles Vogt, president and chief executive officer of General Bandwidth. "This new ranking is indicative not only of our expanding successes in VoIP, but also shows that we are meeting market needs with innovative solutions across all service provider segments."
