WESTFORD, Mass. -- PhyFlex Networks, the leading provider of FTTx solutions for HFC cable systems, and ADVA Optical Networking, the global leader in intelligent Etherjack(R) demarcation devices, today announced the companies have entered into an interoperability partnership. The partnership will help extend the reach of Ethernet services by simplifying and speeding the deployment of intelligent Ethernet solutions for cable operators and service providers. As part of ADVA Optical Networking's Etherjack Alliance interoperability agreement, PhyFlex Networks and ADVA Optical Networking will collaborate to deliver end-to-end Carrier-Ethernet solutions including PhyFlex's FTTxSWITCH(TM), an outdoor HFC Carrier-Ethernet switch, PhyFlex's SMP(TM) Service Management Platform and the ADVA FSP 150 family of intelligent Ethernet access and demarcation products.

The combined ADVA Optical Networking and PhyFlex solution minimizes the time a cable operator or carrier must spend developing back-office systems and performing interoperability testing. This will expedite the development and installation of Carrier Ethernet solutions to the marketplace by providing end-to-end access solutions over fiber and coax plant. Carrier Ethernet has emerged as the service and network convergence technology of choice for business services and is a powerful enabler for cellular backhaul.

"As cable operators and carriers look to scale the delivery of business Ethernet services, they require the most intelligent solutions to enable them to offer differentiated and profitable Ethernet services," said Fred Ellefson, ADVA Optical Networking's vice president of Etherjack alliances. "ADVA Optical Networking's Etherjack technology enables the monitoring and verification of Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and delivers advanced remote Operations, Administration and Maintenance (OAM) capabilities."
