Actelis Networks appoints Ioannis Kanellakopoulos as CTO

FREMONT, Calif. -- Actelis Networks®, the leading global supplier of Carrier Ethernet over Copper(TM) solutions, today announced that Dr. Ioannis Kanellakopoulos has been appointed to the position of chief technology officer. In this capacity, Kanellakopoulos will be responsible for managing the company's Advanced Technology group, as well as developing its next-generation networks technology strategy, and leading the innovation of strategic core technologies.

Prior to joining Actelis, Kanellakopoulos, a former professor and vice chair in the electrical engineering department at UCLA, provided consulting services in intellectual property and new technology development to technology companies in the communications, consumer electronics, and semiconductor industries.

"His technical expertise will be invaluable in bringing new Ethernet services to market to our global customer base."

Among his many achievements, Kanellakopoulos co-authored the research monograph, "Nonlinear and Adaptive Control Design," and is also a co-inventor on eight issued patents and six filed patents. His research contributions have been recognized through several awards, including the 1993 IEEE George Axelby Outstanding Paper Award, the 1995 National Science Foundation CAREER Award, and the 1998 Donald P. Eckman Award.

Dr. Kanellakopoulos, who was elected a Fellow of the IEEE in 2005, received his diploma from the National Technical University of Athens in 1987, and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1989 and 1992, all in electrical engineering.
