LONDON -- Energis has announced today that it has won a contract to supply Siemens Business Services with telecommunications services, as part of Siemens' £2bn technology services contract with the BBC.

The agreement with Siemens sees Energis taking responsibility for the majority of the BBC's telecommunications requirements. Energis already manages the BBC's television and radio distribution network - from a contract first won in 1993.

Tom White, managing director for Siemens Business Services, said: "As the first outsourcing deal of its kind, the partnership we have with the BBC is set to kick-start further outsourcing in the sector as media companies look for innovative ways to reduce costs, whilst embracing new and emerging technologies'.

John Pluthero, chief executive of Energis, said: "We are pleased to be extending our relationship with the BBC via Siemens and look forward to helping them both achieve their goals.'
