NASHUA, N.H. -- Aura Networks, Inc. introduced today the Radiance' Optical Ethernet System, one of the first truly cost-effective, carrier-class systems for broadband data services using optical Ethernet. The Radiance System offers service providers a simplified and highly competitive metro access infrastructure with critical provisioning, monitoring and maintenance features.Unlike enterprise Ethernet systems retrofitted for metro service, the Radiance Optical Ethernet System is designed to provide complete fiber connectivity, which can be provisioned in 1 Mbps increments up to a Gigabit, from the customer premise to the central office/point of presence. A key feature of the Radiance system is Aura-developed Stealth IP' technology. Stealth IP uses an innovative inter-frame coding technique to enable a variety of features - including loopback testing, power and bit error rate monitoring - considered crucial for successful service deployments. The combination of features and cost-effectiveness makes the Radiance system a compelling competitive offering for service providers.

"Service providers looking to differentiate themselves in a very crowded marketplace will eventually need to take advantage of optical Ethernet technology," said analyst Dave Passmore of The Burton Group. "Aura Networks' solution adds a network management capability to service provider Ethernet that has been missing."
