Singapore Telecommunications announced that it has appointed Barry Walsh as Managing Director for its Europe business

LONDON -- Singapore Telecommunications Limited (SingTel) today announced that it has appointed Barry Walsh as Managing Director for its Europe business with effect from 12 June. His appointment reflects the SingTel Group’s commitment to serving and growing its European customer base.

As Managing Director, Barry will take charge of the overall business performance of SingTel’s three European offices in London, Paris and Frankfurt.

One of his key roles would be to raise the profile and awareness of the SingTel Group in the European markets. He will also be responsible for establishing the Group as the leading service provider for European multinational companies which require high performance networking and communications between Europe and the Asia Pacific region.

Barry brings with him over 19 years of expertise in the IT industry, of which 15 were spent in the global telecommunications sector. Prior to SingTel, he held various positions at Equant, including UK Sales Director and more recently Head of Eastern Europe Region. His background also includes Business Development for Sprint International and American Airlines.

Barry replaces Hock Yong Chua, who will be furthering his post-graduate studies on a SingTel scholarship.
