OXNARD, Calif. -- Chromux Technologies Inc., a leading innovator of opticsand MEMS-based products for optical communications systems, todaylaunched a new line of optical cross connect switches based on itsproprietary MEMS technology. Available in 8x8 or 16x16 configurations, the switches are non-blocking and are ideal for use in reconfigurableoptical add-drop multiplexers (ROADMs) and a variety of other agileoptical networking applications.

The new switches are housed in a hermetically sealed package to ensurereliability in demanding environments and mounted on a small-form-factorPCB (3.5" x 1.2" x .85") to facilitate integration. Functional in bothC- and L-band applications, they feature low power consumption and lowinsertion loss of 1.0 dB. Repeatability is ±0.1 dB and bothconfigurations support power up to 24 dBm per channel. The optical crossconnect is priced at $250 per channel for high channel count and largevolume purchases.

Chromux Technologies, Inc. leverages its expertise in fiber optics andmicro-electro-mechanical system (MEMS) to develop and manufacturehigh-performance products for commercial telecommunication andmilitary/aerospace applications. Chromux also offers a wide variety ofwafer fabrication and optoelectronics packaging services.
