TippingPoint's UnityOne IPS delivers secure Internet connectivity to Charter high-speed Internet customers

AUSTIN, Texas -- TippingPoint Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq:TPTI - News), the leader in intrusion prevention, today announced that Charter Communications Inc. (Nasdaq:CHTR - News) has implemented UnityOne(tm) Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS) to eliminate malicious traffic from the Charter high-speed Internet network, and more efficiently manage network traffic.

Jim Johnson, vice president and general manager of TippingPoint's Service Provider business unit, said Charter selected UnityOne after a rigorous, live evaluation process with multiple vendors. Charter CTO Wayne Davis said Charter realized a 25 percent increase in bandwidth availability during the evaluation period by blocking malicious traffic and properly managing low-priority traffic.
