LONDON -- Limelight Networks, the world's leading content delivery network for digital media, today announced it has been selected by ITV plc, a leading U.K. media company, as the platform for delivering ITV Play live on the internet. ITV Play is ITV's brand of interactive content across its broadcast channels: late night slots on ITV1 and ITV2 alongside a recently launched dedicated ITV Play channel on Freeview channel 35 as well as mobile and online. Leveraging the high-capacity Limelight platform, the ITV Play channel is also accessible through the dedicated portal on ITV.com. This is the first ITV channel to be offered via live internet streaming; it is also ITV's first non advertising-funded channel.

"We're keen to make our content available for our viewers whenever and wherever they want it. Streaming ITV Play through ITV.com gives us the opportunity to do this, alongside our other broadband offerings including the video rich Bulls-eye game" said William van Rest, Controller of ITV Play.

"We are proud to be selected by ITV as the digital delivery network for their line-up of the UK's biggest and best live, interactive programs," said George Meek, Director of European Business Development, Limelight Networks. "By making ITV Play available on the web via Limelight, ITV can reach the vast audience of Internet users who have adopted a 'digital lifestyle' that depends on being able to access live and on-demand video and other rich media content."
