NEWARK, N.J. -- FiberCity Networks, Inc., a gigabit business enterprise data services provider, today announced the development and deployment of a breakthrough 4.8 billion bits-per-second per building "last-mile" network and has begun providing broadband fiber-optic data services to over 4.5 million square feet of Class A commercial office space. The company already has agreements with building owners to permit the rapid deployment of its network into almost 200 buildings in major cities throughout North America, totaling approximately 100 million square feet. The company continues to actively negotiate access agreements with additional building owners and expects to substantially increase the number of buildings and square footage on the network.

"In the past 30 years, there has been an explosion in bandwidth available both in wide-area carrier networks and local-area computer networks," said Daniel Flohr, chief executive officer and founder, FiberCity Networks. "During this same time, generally available 'last-mile' bandwidth required to connect these two networks has, almost unbelievably, remained virtually unchanged. Today, as we launch our new services into large office buildings, we are redefining what broadband means by connecting each building to our network with diversely routed, fully protected bandwidth of 4.8 billion bits per second. We have already begun to see a direct correlation between available bandwidth and derivable revenues, which is clearly validating our business model."
