MUNICH -- Deutsche Telekom has awarded Siemens Information and Communication Networks (IC Networks) the third order in succession to expand its IP network with additional Juniper Networks (ERX-1400) edge routers. These routers provide broadband access to the IP network and are used as the Broadband Remote Access Server (BRAS) for Deutsche Telekom’s T-DSL product. Expansion of what is already Europe’s largest project to date for broadband access technology is therefore set to continue. Deutsche Telekom’s first two ERX-1400 orders were themselves the largest of their kind in Europe in this area.By again opting for the Next Generation BRAS product, Deutsche Telekom is broadening the base for another successful roll-out of IP-based services for private and business customers.“With a little over 40 percent of the total DSL lines in Europe, Deutsche Telekom remains the leading provider of broadband DSL network connectivity in Europe. It also means Deutsche Telekom is in the top three places in the global DSL market, second only to Korea Telecom, as at the end of June 2002, and well ahead of SBC of the U.S., the third-placed provider,” said Ian Cox, Analyst, Broadband Access Networks (Global) at RHK.Siemens Information and Communications Networks Inc.Deutsche Telekom AGJuniper Networks Inc.
