BUDAPEST -- LaserBit Communications Corp today announced that all their Gig FSO Solutions are now available with a Copper Interface (or 1000BaseT UTP Interface) as an alternative to the standard fibre interface – a first in the FSO industry. The Gig series of products are high speed and extremely cost effective gig speed Free Space Optical (FSO) solutions from LaserBit, available for a number of different distances. FSO solutions offer a wireless point to point link between 2 sites and are often used where it is difficult or expensive to lay down fibre cables. They have the benefit of being license-free, offering high bandwidth and suffering from no interference problems as well as being easy to install and incredibly secure.

Up until now, if customers wanted to use Gig FSO products they would need to invest in expensive modular fibre switches in order to take advantage of the rest of the benefits of FSO. With this new advancement from LaserBit direct connectivity to popular copper based switches via Cat 5E cabling can now be achieved, making this technology even more cost-effective and easy to use than in the past.

The complete Gig range from LaserBit now allows seamless integration into any network environment.

The range consists of the GigaPico, GigaPinto and GigaPronto solutions, all now available with fibre or copper interface. They follow LaserBit’s highly successful compact design, requiring no adjustment or configuration on site, making installation fast and easy. The GigaPico covers distances of up to 200 meters, the GigaPinto up to 500 meters and the GigaPronto can provide gigabit connectivity up to 1000 meters.
