MINNEAPOLIS -- ADC (NASDAQ:ADCT; www.adc.com) announced today that Home Town Cable Plus has successfully deployed the ADC OmniReach(tm) Fiber-to-the-Premises (FTTP) Infrastructure Solutions in its all-fiber network. Home Town Cable Plus, a Port St. Lucie, Fla.-based integrated service provider, uses the ADC OmniReach family of FTTP products to deliver voice, video, data, and Internet services to homes and businesses in its subscriber area. These services include plain-old-telephone-service (POTS) and long distance, 217 channels of switched digital video (SDV), gigabit Ethernet high-speed Internet service and enhanced home security service over the advanced IP-based FTTP network.

"ADC has a distinct ability to listen to our needs and create unique solutions that address those needs. In addition, their FTTP manufacturing expertise proved to be a key differentiator over other companies we considered," said Bill Flanagan, director of operations for Home Town Cable Plus. "The FTTP products from ADC allow us to lower operating costs because we're going to take less time to activate service for our subscribers, as well as test and troubleshoot our network."

OmniReach FTTP Infrastructure Solutions offer telecommunications service providers flexibility in managing their FTTP equipment, including the expensive central office-based electronics, used to transmit the signals to individual homes. This ability to optimize the infrastructure enables service providers to leverage their investment and quickly generate revenue.

The family of OmniReach FTTP products includes Fiber Distribution Terminals, Passive Optical Network Fiber Access Terminals, Passive Optical Splitter Modules, and Wavelength Division Multiplexer Modules.

"Our OmniReach outside plant solutions were built from the ground up specifically for FTTP deployments," said Tom Kampf, director of fiber infrastructure for the Connectivity Business Unit at ADC. "We believe that these FTTP solutions will provide Home Town Cable Plus many years of reliable service to its subscribers."

It is estimated that $1.5 - 3.5 billion will be spent annually by telecommunications service providers during the next five years as FTTP networks are deployed in the United States. New FTTP projects initiated by carriers and municipalities have increased by more than 87 percent since 2000 and states like California and Washington lead the country with more than 90,000 homes accessible to new fiber networks.
