PETAH TIKVA, Israel -- ECI Telecom's (ECI Telecom: NASDAQ:ECIL) Lightscape Optical Networks Division will showcase the latest technology releases to its flagship XDM(R) optical networking family at CeBIT 2003. The XDM-100, a miniature multi-service provisioning platform (MSPP), and the XDM-200, a miniature CWDM platform, are both designed specifically for the metro access market. XDM 100: Designed for installation in Customer Premises (CPE/CLEs), Central Offices (COs) and street-side and basement cabinets, the XDM-100 is a cost-effective, modular, miniature MSPP integrating Ethernet flexibility with SDH/SONET and CWDM capabilities. The multi-purpose SDH/SONET network element supports all traditional SDH/SONET and PDH service interfaces as well as Ethernet interfaces with 20Gbit capacity packed into 4U unit. The XDM-100 supports all types of network topologies, including point-to-point, ring, chain and mesh. This combined functionality means operators can benefit from improved network efficiency and significant savings in terms of cost and footprint. A key feature of the XDM-100 is its sophisticated Layer 2 Ethernet capabilities. These offer carriers a clear migration path from pure TDM-based, legacy services to new value-added data services. The XDM-100's Ethernet capabilities enable carriers to provide such services as Ethernet Private Lines, replacing the traditional TDM leased line services, Ethernet Virtual Private Lines using shared Ethernet rings and Ethernet Virtual Private LAN services, extending corporate LANs over the WAN. In addition to the Ethernet interface, all services can be offered with QoS and SLA assurances controlled and managed by network management. XDM 200: Utilising the XDM-100 architecture, the XDM-200 is a new generation platform offering a cost-effective, low footprint, CWDM solution for metro access and campus networks. Available for point-to-point topologies and ring configurations, the XDM-200 accommodates up to 16 channels over 100 km and multiple bit-rate transponders provide continuous support for services ranging from 100 Mbps up to 2.7 Gbps including SDH, Gigabit Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, IP, SAN, Digital Video and ATM. As deployment of Metro core DWDM networks gains momentum, end users will increasingly require pure optical connectivity. The XDM-200, when coupled with other platforms in the XDM range such as the XDM-1000, XDM-2000 and XDM-500, will enable carriers to deploy a pure optical network from the access right through to the metro core towards regional and national levels. "With these latest offerings, ECI Telecom is expanding its expertise across the network providing versatile platforms specifically designed and optimised for metro access operators requiring the converged service capabilities of Ethernet, SDH and CWDM in one miniature device. The XDM-100 and XDM-200 offer a competitive edge to operators in terms of size, cost-effectiveness, flexibility, capacity and network efficiency," commented Ido Gur, VP of Sales and Marketing for ECI Telecom's Lightscape Optical Networks Division. ECI's Lightscape Optical Networks Division will be demonstrating both new platforms at ECI Telecom's stand at CeBIT (Stand D45, Hall 27) as well as its XDM-400, XDM-1000, BroadGate(TM) MicroLAN and T::CORE.
