DULUTH, Ga., and COLMAR, Pa. -- Concurrent (Nasdaq: CCUR), a worldwide leader of on-demand technology that is shaping the future of television, and Vertasent, a company providing innovative applications for next generation on-demand television, today announced they are collaborating on the development of next generation video-on-demand technologies.

Concurrent and Vertasent expect their products to be fully integrated and ready for commercial deployment before the end of the year.

Together, the companies are currently developing open interfaces providing a new level of product standardization among on-demand equipment. This will allow headend components from any manufacturer to work together without costly custom integration, reducing delays which can impact the launch of new revenue generating services. Concurrent and Vertasent will develop next-generation and network management solutions to deliver the network level robustness needed in today's burgeoning VOD deployments. By simplifying cable operators' efforts to integrate multiple vendors' products, the companies expect fewer integration problems and a faster return on an operator's VOD investment.

"Working with Vertasent demonstrates Concurrent's commitment to providing cable customers with a roadmap to the future for advanced on-demand and network management solutions, and enables a pathway for proven, reliable delivery of on-demand programming," said Tim Dodge, Director of Marketing for Concurrent.

Concurrent's MediaHawk On-Demand System is deployed on thousands of servers commercially in 24 countries. Concurrent's recent acquisition of Everstream, a leader in business intelligence software and a strong vendor in the cable industry, bolsters the company's commitment to improving operational reliability and business performance capabilities.

"We are pleased to work with established industry leader Concurrent in developing open architecture on-demand initiatives. Concurrent is a pioneer and leader in VOD, bringing unique insight into the challenges that face the industry," said Bruce Bradley, Vice President of Product and Market Management at Vertasent. "Concurrent's eagerness to embrace open standards sets an example for the entire industry and the future of on-demand television."
