DULUTH, Ga. -- ARRIS (Nasdaq ARRS) today announced that it has added the Cadant® C3 CMTS to its CMTS portfolio through an OEM agreement with Com 21. The Cadant C3 is based on the Com 21 DOXcontroller™ 1000XB design, and will be marketed worldwide under the ARRIS/Cadant brand with a launch at Germany’s ANGA show and at NCTA’s National Show 2003.

The Cadant C3 CMTS is designed for smaller cable systems or distributed networks that require a DOCSIS 1.1 and 2.0-based CMTS that supports Layer 2 packet switching and Layer 3 IP routing. The Cadant C3 CMTS provides superior upstream RF performance via A-TDMA modulation, further enabling voice and tiered data services applications, and is upgradeable to full DOCSIS 2.0 and PacketCable. The Cadant C3 CMTS has a compact, durable form factor and fits in a one-rack unit high system. It joins the existing suite of ARRIS CMTS products, the Cadant C4™ CMTS and the Cornerstone® CMTS 1500.

"We can now satisfy our customers’ desire for a compact, layer 3 capable DOCSIS 2.0 and PacketCable CMTS,” said Stan Brovont, VP Marketing for ARRIS Broadband. "The Cadant C3 CMTS is now being submitted for appropriate DOCSIS and Euro-DOCSIS qualifications and will be shipping to customers worldwide in July.”
