LONDON -- Cable&Wireless Europe, Asia & US has today announced the launch of its Next Generation Network known as the Multi-Service Platform (MSP) in India. Today’s announcement sees Cable&Wireless become the first International telecom provider to receive all necessary security clearances from the Department of Telecommunications - Government of India, to enable the company to launch advanced IP-based solutions delivered directly by Cable&Wireless in India.
Multi-national and local customers will now be able to benefit from high quality Managed IP Services, such as Ethernet-based solutions, value-added communications applications, and International Private Leased Circuit (IPLC) alongside improved reliability, availability and performance. Setting new standards for customer service experience in India, the MSP launch follows a highly successful deployment in the UK and is part of a strategic expansion of this new platform in key global regions.
Cable&Wireless has proven its capabilities by setting up its own International gateways (two in Mumbai and two in Chennai) and has received the Lawful Interception and Monitoring Solution (LIMS) clearances. Cable&Wireless has been offering virtual private network-based (VPN) services such as Multi-protocol Label Switching (MPLS), IP- VPN QoS, ATM etc since February 2008, when it was first awarded the International Long Distance and National Long Distance licences.
The company has invested US$30 million in the last nine months in building this new MSP network in India, which will form part of the company’s core backbone allowing connectivity to its vast global network across Asia Pacific, Europe and North America. Cable&Wireless will begin migrating customers to the new platform from February 2009 onwards.
Sunanda Das, Managing Director - India, Cable&Wireless added, “We’re very excited to be the first International service provider to launch our full services in India on the MSP platform. We will be able to provide resilient and flexible services to corporates in India based on our robust infrastructure. This will also allow us to offer our existing global services in Indian market.”
