CAMARILLO, Calif. -- Vitesse Semiconductor Corporation (Nasdaq:VTSS - News) today broadened its family of high performance, multi-purpose Gigabit Ethernet and 10 Gigabit Ethernet Media Access Controllers (MACs) by introducing Meigs-II(TM) (VSC7321) and Lansing(TM) (VSC7322). Both devices provide system OEMs a flexible, low cost, low power 10Gbps MAC solution with an integrated industry standard host interface for seamless scaling of Ethernet line card designs. These MAC devices are ideal for current and next-generation Enterprise and Metro applications such as L2/3 Ethernet Switches, Edge Routers, Add/Drop Multiplexers (ADM) deploying Ethernet-over-SONET/SDH, Multi-service Provisioning Platforms and Content Switches. "OEMs are continuously confronted with the cost, density, and connectivity cycle. By offering the industry's first QUADSpeed MAC device, with an integrated SPI-4.2 System Interface, Vitesse simplifies the design of high density, triple-speed Ethernet or 10 Gigabit Ethernet solutions by employing a common 10Gbps Ethernet MAC architecture," said Mark Fauber, product marketing manager for Vitesse's Ethernet Products Division. "Meigs-II provides system OEMs a versatile, standard's compliant, 10Gbps MAC solution for scaling their Ethernet line card designs for rapid time-to-market." Vitesse Semiconductor Corp.
