HANOVER, Germany -- Gigaclear, a UK Broadband Network Operator for rural communities, has delivered one of the most advanced Next Generation Broadband networks to properties in Appleton and Eaton in rural Oxfordshire. This new Ultrafast Internet service has been built using a pure fibre network and is delivering bandwidths of 1 Gigabit per second (1,000Mbps) to each connected home and business.

KEYMILE’s multi-service access platform, MileGate, has been selected to provide the Gigabit Ethernet FTTH connections due to its class leading port density and highly flexible architecture. The MileGate platform is a compact access solution and by utilising the high density active Ethernet Fibre-to-the-Home line card, Gigaclear can support up to 480 customers from a single subrack. The MileGate provides a backhaul capacity of up to 20 Gbit/s, and the use of pluggable cSFP optical modules assists Gigaclear in managing their capital investment as their network and customer base grows.

MileGate’s ruggedised design allows Gigaclear the flexibility of deploying services from either indoor locations or from street cabinets, depending on the specific requirements of the access network being built. Extensive traffic management and quality of service functions enables Gigaclear to provide a range of both residential and business service offerings within the same network, and will allow new services to be implemented in the future.
