HANOVER, Germany -- Energie Wasser Bern is investing in expanding an ultra-fast optical fibre network in Bern. KEYMILE’s multi-service access platform MileGate is the Next-Generation access solution for the new optical fibre network. Energie Wasser Bern is constructing an optical fibre network into homes (FTTH) in the Swiss capital. For the access network, the energy utility and its telecommunications partner Ericsson have opted for KEYMILE and its multi-service access platform MileGate. With MileGate, homes will be connected to point-to-point optical fibre infrastructure and will therefore benefit from a future-proof data highway. MileGate is a compact and robust IP-based access platform with high port density. Up to 480 optical fibre lines can be accommodated in each 8-HU subrack. With its excellent scalability, low power consumption and wide range of operating temperatures, it is ideal for exchanges, collocation rooms and outdoor cabinets. In the Swiss capital, four optical fibres are laid per household and a total of 82,000 households are connected to the optical fibre network.Keymile AG
