SUWANEE, Ga. -- ARRIS Group Inc. (NASDAQ: ARRS) today announced the deployment of its TG1682 DOCSIS 3.0 gateway at Comcast. The ARRIS TG1682 is part of Comcast's new XB3 service that will enable gigabit wireless speeds, IP video technology and integrated home automation and security capabilities to subscribers. The two companies began collaboration on this initiative late last year.

The ARRIS TG1682 is an advanced DOCSIS 3.0 residential voice gateway that combines 24DS channel bonding, two analog voice lines, a 4-port Gigabit Router, MoCA 2.0 for superior in home coverage, and a Dual Band 802.11ac wireless access point into a single integrated device. The TG1682 can achieve exceptional high-bandwidth performance and can serve as the hub of the subscriber's network, connecting all IP-capable devices (Internet, Data, Voice and Video) throughout the customer's home. The open-source software on the TG1682 is expected to serve as a key foundation for a new version of the RDK (Reference Design Kit) for broadband devices that is currently under development for the wider RDK community.

"We are committed to providing our customers with the best, fastest in-home wifi experience, and the XB3 is a powerful tool for delivering on that commitment," said Ken Klaer, Senior Vice President of Premises Technologies at Comcast. "ARRIS has been a valuable partner in our effort to continually evolve the high-speed data experience for our customers."

"We are pleased to work with Comcast to launch the TG1682 as part of their XB3 service," said Larry Robinson, President, Customer Premises Equipment at ARRIS. "We are committed to continue introducing additional advanced broadband devices based on this new software ecosystem to make our customers more competitive. We will continue to invest in these solutions during this very exciting and dynamic time in the industry."

ARRIS's Chief Technology Officer of Customer Premises Equipment Charles Cheevers will deliver a related presentation at the European RDK Summit at IBC. IBC attendees are invited to visit the ARRIS stand 1.D31 for more information.
