Band-X Goes to South America

LONDON -- Band-X, the bandwidth exchange, has announced the official opening of the company's Latin American headquarters in São Paulo, Brazil. This is due to be followed by the launch of the continent's first IP routed trading floor in the second quarter of this year. The company has appointed Felipe Moura, formerly of Vesper SA, to head up the Brazilian operation and oversee the roll out of the Band-X trading floors in Latin America. Moura was part of the team that launched Vesper, a regional competitive carrier in Brazil, in April 1999.

"The Brazilian market, with its deregulated IP and bandwidth markets, is ideally suited to the Band-X model," said Moura, executive vice-president, Band-X Brazil. "The arrival of competition has meant that buyers are increasingly looking for a way to be able to identify the best supplier for their needs. Band-X offers them the knowledge to make an informed choice and the flexibility to move between suppliers as and when they want."
