DUBLIN -- Anam Mobile, the Dublin-based provider of messaging technologies today announced full availability of its Smart Services platform for WAP, SMS and MMS. This patent-pending technology allows mobile operators to create new messaging services based on the unique ability to intercept messages 'in-flight'. Once intercepted, previously impossible processing can be applied to messages before they are delivered.

After deployment of the platform, individual services can be developed and launched in a matter of weeks. This ability to rapidly develop and launch new services provides operators with a significant competitive advantage.

Price pressure within messaging is rapidly becoming a critical issue for operators. The majority of data service revenues are still attributable to SMS messaging and current predictions show this will remain the case for at least the next five years. Operators must find new ways to protect against churn and the subsequent threat to revenues and margins.

Anam's technology is not disruptive and does not require replacement of any existing network equipment. Once individual services are made available they can run across 2, 2.5 and 3G bearers. Services developed against 2 and 2.5G bearers like WAP, MMS and SMS will also transition to IMS using the Anam Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)-enabled application server. The platform provides a double benefit to the operator by generating revenues from existing technologies whilst also preparing the service environment for future technologies.
