AltaLink Deploys Meriton HSM

OTTAWA -- Meriton Networks Inc., a leading provider of carrier-class wavelength networking systems, announced today that AltaLink Management Ltd., Alberta’s largest electric transmission provider, has deployed the Meriton High-Speed Metro-Regional Architecture for its high-speed backbone. Another key driver for selecting Meriton’s solution was the carrier-grade quality of the Meriton equipment, which was well suited for the utility’s mission-critical applications. These applications include Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and internal data applications such as intranet communications, voice and storage. As an added bonus, the multi-service capability inherent in Meriton’s transparent systems enables AltaLink to have one common infrastructure for their SONET (OC-n) and Gigabit Ethernet connections.
