MINNEAPOLIS -- ADC (NASDAQ:ADCTD; www.adc.com) introduced today its new LoopStar(R) 1600 next-generation SONET multi-service transmission system, the newest addition to its family of advanced, next-generation SONET access solutions. LoopStar access systems allow service providers to cost-effectively transport, and manage TDM and Ethernet services to end-user customers from a single platform. The LoopStar 1600 will be featured in ADC's booth No. 23018 at SUPERCOMM 2005, June 7-9 in Chicago.

The highly scalable LoopStar 1600 system enables service providers to deploy tailor-made, reliable SONET-based solutions for DS1, DS3, OC3, OC12 and Ethernet service delivery, as well as transport from 0C3 to OC192. The platform provides an integrated universal back-plane architecture that supports multiple interchangeable network and tributary interface cards that help reduce costs and ease the transition into new business services. The LoopStar 1600, designed for central office (CO) and customer premises environments as well as co-location POPs, can be deployed in a broad range of applications such as enterprise access and transport (ADM), cell site backhaul and MSC aggregation, DSLAM backhaul and CO interoffice transport.

"With the addition of the LoopStar 1600 to our portfolio of LoopStar access systems, ADC offers one of the most comprehensive and cost-effective SONET access platforms available to service providers today," said Mike Pratt, president of the Wireline and Wireless Business Units for ADC. "The LoopStar 1600 provides a broad array of capabilities and options that will help carriers deliver the services their customers want without sacrificing performance or flexibility while at the same time minimizing capital and operating expenses."
