MORRIS PLAINS, N.J. -- Xtellus, a maker of dynamic optical modules and components for reconfigurable optical networks, announced today that to meet the growing demand for its products it has expanded its manufacturing facility in Daejon, South Korea, by fifty percent by buying additional space.

The facility, that includes a Class 1000 clean room, has twelve thousand square feet of production space. It is used to fabricate Xtellus’ liquid crystal optical processor core technology and with the additional space will help Xtellus expand the packaging capabilities for its dynamic optical modules and components. Liquid crystal is the technology of choice for dynamic optical modules and components because of its high reliability, high performance, small form factor and low price. Xtellus also fabricates liquid crystal processors for other companies for use in non-competing dynamic optical products.

Mr. Il Lee, Managing Director of Xtellus Korea, elaborated, “We are excited about growing our production capabilities and our expanded mission in Xtellus. We have created a unique facility that integrates all the elements required to manufacture dynamic optical modules and components, from the underlying core technology through finished product. Moreover, we are also ideally located to facilitate Xtellus’strong business in east Asian markets.”
