Spirent demonstrates support for CFP2 100G optical transceiver modules
April 9, 2013
SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Spirent Communications, a leader in testing networks, services and devices, today announced support for CFP2 100G optical transceiver modules. Finisar’s 100GBASE-LR4 CFP2 optical transceivers were used in Spirent’s 100G test module to generate and analyze traffic across this new interface form factor at Ethernet Alliance’s demonstration of Optical Ethernet Interoperability during OFC 2013. This CFP2 demonstration showcased Spirent’s commitment to begin delivering the benefits of high-density test modules to customers.“This was the first time we publicly showcased our CFP2 modules carrying error-free traffic through interoperability demonstrations with multiple partners, including Spirent,” said Christian Urricariet, Director of Marketing for High-Speed Optics at Finisar. “CFP2 modules allow system vendors to support significantly increased port density and lower the power dissipation per 100G port compared to previous generation designs.” Spirent Communications plc
