SAN DIEGO, CA--AirFiber, Inc., a telecommunications equipment supplier, Monday announced the development of a carrier-grade, high-bandwidth wireless optical networking system for telecommunications companies around the world.

The company's flagship product, OptiMesh(TM), allows carriers to economically and reliably connect most urban buildings to high-bandwidth services.

OptiMesh is based on wireless optical mesh technology, which delivers voice, data and multimedia services using eye-safe beams of near-infrared light. OptiMesh connects buildings with no direct fiber access to existing fiber access points in nearby "on-net" buildings at speeds of up to 622 Mbps.
