Podcast: Dish Network's Spectrum of Innovation

Phil Harvey
8/8/2019

Dish Network was the first big pay-TV proponent of DVRs, an early -- and big -- buyer of spectrum and has always been a company making the world of entertainment delivery more competitive, exciting and unpredictable.

In this podcast, Light Reading editors Mike Dano and Jeff Baumgartner join their colleagues Phil Harvey and Kelsey Ziser to discuss the past, present and future of Dish Network, the 22-year-old, $15 billion company that is suddenly right smack in the middle of the Sprint/T-Mobile merger conversation.

We scan the headlines of Dish's past, we talk about its capacity and drive to build a wireless network and then we guess the headlines that might come in the near future, as Dish looks to make a move beyond slinging TV channels and into the realm of 5G nationwide service providers.

The Light Reading podcast is available on Google Play, Apple Podcasts, Spotify and SoundCloud.
