U-verse Capex: Pay More, Get Less

Light Reading reports that AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) is once again a few days late and quite a few dollars over budget more for its U-verse IPTV deployment. (See AT&T Readjusts U-verse Forecast ).

According to a Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filing, Ma Bell said it will spend a half-billion dollars more in capex than expected for U-verse to reach 1 million fewer homes by the end of 2008. That video thing over DSL isn't so easy, apparently.

By the end of next year, the telco says it will pass 17 million homes for U-verse with a total spend for 2007 and 2008 to between $4.5 billion and $5 billion. LR offers a snapshot of AT&T's moving target for U-verse homes passed.

Could make a nice wall chart for MSO execs.
