STOCKHOLM -- Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) today announced that it has been selected to provide its industry leading video contribution and distribution systems to NBC Olympics, a division of the NBC Sports Group, during the production of the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, from 6 - 23 February. The announcement was made today by David Mazza, Senior Vice President, Engineering, NBC Olympics, and Dr. Giles Wilson, Head of TV Compression, Ericsson.
Ericsson will provide a range of its video processing solutions and advanced modular receivers, enabling NBC Olympics to deliver high quality, reliable HD broadcast to millions of American viewers. NBC Olympics will also benefit from Ericsson’s specialist engineers, who, in addition to assisting with equipment/system set-up, will also be onsite 24/7 to provide multisite support for the event.
For 20 years, Ericsson has led the way in the development of pioneering, advanced video compression technology solutions, bringing the next generation of TV experiences to consumers. Ericsson encoding solutions were used by NBC Olympics for the 2012 London Games, 2010 Vancouver Winter Games, the 2008 Beijing Games and the 2006 Winter Olympics from Torino, Italy.
