HEMEL HEMPSTEAD, U.K. -- The UK CEO of one of the world’s leading telecoms equipment manufacturers – Deutsche Telephonwerke AG & Co – has today completed the acquisition of the company’s wholly-owned UK subsidiary, DeTeWe UK. Nadahl Shocair, CEO DeTeWe UK and Directing Strategist, DeTeWe AG & Co, has acquired DeTeWe Group Ltd and its associated subsidiaries, which include DeTeWe Ltd (UK) through his privately-held investment vehicle.

DeTeWe UK is one of the UK's largest resellers of enterprise telephony equipment and a subsidiary of DeTeWe AG & Co, the German telecommunications equipment manufacturer. Founded in 1887, DeTeWe AG is one of the world's oldest telecommunications companies, and is the telecommunications division of privately held German industrial giant Röchling Group (which turns over €6bn annually).

Nadahl Shocair was appointed in November 2002 to affect a turnaround and repositioning in the UK subsidiary, which had not been profitable for more than 20 years. Since Shocair’s appointment, DeTeWe UK has been consistently profitable, growing its blue-chip customer base which includes FirstInfo, BhS, Geest and The Home Office, as well as overseeing the launch of a raft of successful new products and services, notably in the IP telephony market.

Shocair said of the acquisition:

“It’s exciting to be taking over the ownership of the UK business at this juncture in the global telecommunications market. Disruptive technologies – notably VoIP - are changing the whole nature of the business, and DeTeWe UK is perfectly positioned to take advantage of this situation to consolidate on the strong growth we’ve seen in the last two to three years. For now, it’s very much business as usual, but we will undertake a strategic review of the business in the near to mid-term, looking at maximising the existing assets and launching new products, potentially under a new brand.”
