SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Pactolus Communications Software Corporation, developers of the most comprehensive IP voice service suite and service delivery environment for telecom service providers, today announced selection and deployment of its popular SIPware(TM) Broadband Telephony (VoBB) by Sawtel, Inc. over the world's first commercial satellite and wireless telecommunications network. The service is now live and is believed to be the first commercial VoBB deployment across a converged satellite and WiMAX ground network. The service is now providing Sawtel's growing user base with extremely reliable, accessible voice services, while providing the industry with a successful model for extending profitable IP services across new networks and multi-network delivery paths.

SIPware Broadband Telephony delivers the advanced Voice-over-IP services for converged voice, data and video service for Sawtel's business and residential consumers. SIPware services were selected for their unique extensibility across diverse telecommunications networks and its breadth of capabilities, including repaid belling, which enables Sawtel to serve the full range of subscribers, from thriving business to individual consumers in markets where credit is virtually absent among the majority of households. The service is initially being provided to users across the island of Nassau, and will be successively offered to user populations around the world needing to overcome service accessibility, reliability, and economy barriers. "The realities of telecom innovation and satellite to ground hand-offs demanded that our voice services embody market-proven reliability, the ability to adapt and customize user feature sets, and an important new criteria: the ability to reliably extend across new networks," observed Sawtel Inc.'s Chief Technology Officer, Eric Asare.

"Pactolus' SIPware applications proved, upon evaluation, to be the only voice service suite solution that could ensure toll-quality, carrier-grade voice services, and the service integrity essential to our deployment. Pactolus is a key element in our initial success, and we look forward to working closely with Pactolus to introduce new service features, and to scale service delivery." In its preliminary 1,000 node, island-wide deployment, Sawtel Inc. has created the world's largest virtual cell covering a 20 x 7 mile area, enabling highly cost effective voice and data service delivery.
