VIENNA -- At a press conference at the Alpbach Technology Forum, the Telekom Austria Group presented the results of a survey* carried out by SORA - the Institute for Social Research and Consulting – on behalf of the company focusing on Austrians’ Internet-based knowledge acquisition methods. A total of 800 Austrians were interviewed for this purpose.

“The Internet and the wide range of possibilities it offers are bringing about a rapid social transformation. According to survey results, more than 70% of Austrian Internet users search the web to find the desired information when they do not know something. This is particularly interesting when contrasted with the fact that more than 90% of the survey participants do not fully trust the information they find on the web,” explained Hannes Ametsreiter, CEO Telekom Austria Group, summarizing the key findings of the survey. He continued: “Media literacy is imperative for using the Internet in a competent and confident manner. In order to address this demand, we launched ‘A1 Internet for All’ in Austria to help those who are digitally excluded to become familiar with the Internet.” Similar initiatives have been recently started and rolled-out by the Telekom Austria Group’s subsidiaries in Slovenia and in the Republic of Serbia.
