KOMAKI, Japan -- SANTEC, a leading design and manufacturer of tunable lasers, optical instruments, OCT products, and fiber-optic components, has introduced the 1x2&1x4 WSS (Wavelength Selective Switch) based on LCOS (Liquid Crystal on Silicon) technology. The WSS supports both of ITU-T 50GHz fixed grid 96 channels and flexible grid (gridless) in a 6.25GHz increment and 12.5GHz frequency slice for a single slot line-card integration. The WSS modules have been specially designed for compact, fast response, and low power consumption. The WSS product will be showcased at the European Conference on Optical Communication (ECOC) in Amsterdam, September 17-19, in SANTEC’s booth #209.
SANTEC’s WSS has many advantages for next generation ROADM (Reconfigurable Optical Add Drop Multiplexer)” said Dr. Noboru Uehara, department manager of R&D of SANTEC. “We are extremely pleased with the advantages of LCOS technology in our WSS which provides software-oriented flexible and intelligent solutions for our customers.”
