GWANGJU, South Korea and HILVERSUM, Netherlands -- OE Solutions and AimValley announce Smart SFP™ with OC-3/STM-1 over Packet.
OE Solutions and AimValley enable a smooth network migration with the OC-3/STM-1 over Packet Smart SFP™, using Transparent SONET/SDH over Packet (TSoP). The TSoP protocol converts SONET/SDH TDM traffic to a packet stream. Operators now can transport OC-3 or STM-1 traffic across a packet network by simply adding a TSoP SFP to any router or packet switch.
Network operators are currently migrating their networks to a single protocol technology, optimized for packet transport. This transition is already ongoing in mobile backhaul networks where DS1/E1 traffic is handled with protocols such as SAToP. The next challenge for operators is to integrate the installed base of existing SONET/SDH access networks into the same packet network.
"The TSoP Smart SFP™ processes the OC-3/STM-1 signal fully transparent, maintaining payload structure, protection protocols and synchronization end-to-end; this simplifies the configuration and service turn-up of OC-3/STM-1 connections across a packet network," says Pieter de Boer, managing director at AimValley. "The integration of TSoP into an SFP greatly reduces system and network complexity, and offers lower carbon footprint while generating CAPEX & OPEX savings."
